Player Ratings: Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Manchester United

Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Manchester United | Premier League | Player Ratings

Manchester United come from behind in emphatic fashion to take all three points in the capital. Second half goals from Fred, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood further secure United’s Champions League hopes.

Here’s how each player performed along with a rating out of 10:

Dean Henderson: 7

A huge performance against a big test. Not only did he deal with the obvious threat of Harry Kane, Henderson was quick off his line to ensure the runs in behind from Hueng-min Son were well policed.

Defence

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 7

Unlike United, Wan-Bissaka had a strangely consistent half. In the first half he could be seen intercepting and getting involved in some good interplay on the right hand side. In the second, the right back was given the freedom of North London on the right hand side to whip in crosses and create opportunities.

Victor Lindelof: 6

The Swede was most definitely at fault for Spurs’ goal with a poor excuse for a clearance. However, Lindelof played a big part in United, going ahead and turning around the result. His driving run with the ball into the space meant he could pick out Wan-Bissaka.

Harry Maguire: 6

For large portions of the game, Maguire kept Harry Kane quiet but he did find himself being dragged out of position on a number of occasions.

Luke Shaw: 6

Livened up in the second half with some brilliant crosses into the box which led to big chances but ultimately lacked any defensive assurance.

Midfield

Scott McTominay: 5

McTominay was involved in the most controversial moment of the game where a flailing hand patted Son in the face causing him to require medical attention. The perceived foul meant that United’s goal was overturned. Away from that McTominay seemed to get eluded a number of times in midfield.

Fred: 6

Fred played a big part in United’s victory scoring the equalising goal. His overall play didn’t merit many plaudits as his poor passing could have cost the three points.

Bruno Fernandes: 6

Hojgberg stuck to Fernandes like glue so there was very little space for him on the ball. When he did get in possession however he showed some real bright sparks. His trickery to create the second United goal deserves praise for that alone.

Attack

Paul Pogba: 8

Another big game where Paul Pogba has taken it by the scruff of the kneck and imposed his quality. He danced around the pitch at times, you could tell he was enjoying himself. Top performance.

Marcus Rashford: 4

Showed some glimpses and got into some good positions but his lack of fitness showed in his performance.

Edinson Cavani: 8

Many questioned whether he still has his uses for United. Tonight he displayed exactly what they are. His movement caused problems all night long for Spurs’ defence and his goal sums up what kind of striker he is.

Substitutes

Mason Greenwood: 8

Mason Greenwood changed the game. His energy matched his quality as scored and got himself a superb assist. A brilliant performance off the bench.

Nemanja Matic: 6
