Dean Henderson set to sign £100,000 a week new contract

Dean Henderson Manchester United new Contract

According to a report by the Sun, United are set to offer Dean Henderson a £100,000 a week new contract as they look to ward off interest from Frank Lampard, who wants the Englishman to replace Kepa. The deal is reportedly set to coincide with Romero leaving the club, as the Argentine is not happy being 3rd choice goalkeeper.

Dean Henderson impressed in his debut premier league season on loan at Sheffield United, with the young Englishman keeping 14 clean sheets. The form of David De Gea last season led to many people suggesting that Henderson should replace the Spaniard as No.1 at Old Trafford. However, Solskjaer has repeatedly backed the out-of-form, De Gea, who is set to be the Norwegian’s first choice next season.

Sheffield United have already searched the transfer market for a replacement for Henderson, and have acted quickly, agreeing an £18 million pound deal with fellow young Englishman, Aaron Ramsdale, from relegated Bournemouth. So, agreeing a loan deal for Henderson to go back to Sheffield United is no longer essential for Chris Wilder’s side.

Lampard’s Chelsea side have been awful defensively this season, conceding 54 league goals, and Chelsea have prioritised a new goalkeeper this transfer window, such has been the poor form of the world’s most expensive keeper, Kepa. Chelsea are reportedly very keen to sign Henderson, however, Manchester United acknowledge that Henderson is the future for the Red Devils, which is why they would not consider selling the 23-year-old to their rivals, Chelsea.

Sergio Romero has been an excellent servant for United and has had some great performances for the Red Devils in cup competitions and when De Gea has been injured. However, if Henderson stays at United and is not loaned out, the Argentine would slip down to third-choice goalkeeper, something Romero would not be happy with, which would lead to him leaving the club.
