Diogo Dalot on ‘bittersweet’ AC Milan loan

Diogo Dalot has admitted his loan move from Old Trafford to AC Milan was bittersweet.

Jose Mourinho signed the exciting young right-back in 2018, for £19 million, however, Dalot’s progress at the club was halted by the emergence of Wan-Bisaaka and Brandon Williams.

Injuries contributed to his low total of just 20 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils, however, Dalot says he has no regrets.

He told Record ‘Of course, the feeling is a little deeper, more because I didn’t have the time I liked physically.

‘I spent great moments at United. I played very important games for me and the team.

‘I left with a bit of a bittersweet feeling for not being physically available for all those games I lost due to injury.

‘But it is what it is. I wouldn’t change anything because what I learned was very important for my future and how I am now.

Diogo Dalot has thrived in Milan, especially in the Europa League – starting all six games of the group stage and providing one goal and two assists for the Italian club.

AC Milan are already reportedly keen to keep Dalot at the club, however, Dalot is still contracted at Manchester United until 2023.

Dalot also thanked the United and AC Milan fans for their support.

‘It is always positive to see the feedback from Milan fans and the affection that United fans have for me. It’s fantastic to feel that,’ he said.

Manchester United are in action again on Wednesday, when they face rivals, Manchester City in the Carabao cup semi-final.
