Harry Maguire Trial Update

A lawyer in Mykonos has revealed to sky sports that he does not expect Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire, to face a jail sentence even if he is found guilty.

Maguire faces charges of aggravated assault and attempting to bribe a police officer.

The Englishman spent two nights in police custody after he was arrested during a holiday with friends and family on the Greek island of Mykonos.

Zannis Panayotakopoulos, a Greek lawyer in Mykonos, has said that the charges the 27-year-old faces are misdemeanours and not the more serious felony charges.

Maguire will be represented by Alexis Anagostakis, one of Greece’s top human rights lawyers, when his trial begins today.

The £80 million pound defender was released from police custody on Saturday.

He is not obliged to attend the trial in Syros and he has already pleaded not guilty.

The court listing for the case name the other two defendants as Joe Maguire, Harry’s brother, and Christopher Sharman.
