Liverpool vs Manchester United Match Preview: Kick-off time, Team News, TV Channel and Score Prediction

Manchester United travel to Anfield to face fierce rivals Liverpool in the Premier League.

How do Manchester United Look?

Last time out Manchester United beat West Ham in the fifth round of the FA Cup thanks to 90th minute goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Fred. Erik ten Hag rotated his side heavily for the game making six changes to the side that beat Newcastle United at Wembley. The changes were needed to rest key players after the tough fixture schedule United have been through but the difference in levels of performance was notable between the two sides. With United missing the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Casemiro they struggled to progress play and create any chances in the first half. West Ham would take the lead in the second half through Said Benrahma. The tricky Algerian found himself in space in United’s penalty area and fired one into the top corner. Soon after conceding Ten Hag introduced Marcus Rashford and Lisandro Martinez to allow United to sustain pressure on West Ham. United were denied an equaliser by VAR due to Casemiro being offside when he headed the ball into the goal from a Bruno Fernandes delivery. Moments later another Fernandes delivery would cause West Ham problems.

The Portuguese maestro delivered a corner into a dangerous area and the ball was headed in by West Ham centre-back Naif Aguerd after Alphonse Areola missed his punch. Alejandro Garnacho would get United’s go-ahead goal in the 90th minute after being a constant threat throughout the game. The ball dropped to the Argentine after Wout Weghorst’s shot was blocked, Garnacho took an excellent first touch and steadied himself before curling the ball into the bottom corner. Fred would add insult to injury firing home in stoppage time after Weghorst’s press forced the ball to the Brazilian who now has six goals in all competitions this season. Manchester United progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup where they will face Fulham at Old Trafford on the 19th March.

Liverpool are currently sitting in 6th place in the Premier League and will be hoping to beat Manchester United to keep their chances of top 4 alive. Jurgen Klopp’s men have been significantly off the pace this season with a lot of their key players underperforming. Liverpool have lacked physicality in their side this season with their midfielders ageing and it has left the defence exposed at times. Regardless, Liverpool players will be up for the derby and Anfield will be rocking with fans trying to create an atmosphere to intimidate United.

Despite not having a good season to his standards, Mohamed Salah will still be Liverpool’s most dangerous player. The Egyptian has the ability to make something out of nothing and has pulled Liverpool through in big games in the past. Salah has had an upturn in form in recent weeks, scoring three goals and assisting twice in the his last five games. Salah is Liverpool’s all time top scorer against Manchester United netting ten times against The Red Devils and will want to add to that tally on Sunday.

Prediction
