Man Utd Transfer News Round-up: Ajax set high price tags for United targets

Another day has passed in the transfer window that Manchester United have failed to use. While the fans are led to believe deals are in the works, today has put a dampener on any good feeling that was being mustered.
Ajax are somewhat to blame and Barcelona too, but after promises of a new transfer strategy it’s hard not to point the finger at United.
Here are the biggest transfer headlines from Wednesday 22nd June:
Ajax are now playing hardball for United targets

The two clubs even share prominent members of the clubs’ history like Edwin van der Sar. However, if what was reported by Mike Verweij is to be true, that relationship seems to be on the rocks.
Verweij stated that Ajax do not want to sell Lisandro Martinez, Antony or Jurrien Timber. As a consequence of wanting to keep them, the fee the Futch club would demand reflects that. Antony will cost in the region of £60m-70m. While the other two would cost £43m-50m.
Ajax’s stubbornness is understood to be a result of not wanting to sell the bulk of their title-winning squad. It appears United May have been characteristically late to the Ajax transfer party.
Former Liverpool transfer specialist on United’s radar

That’s if the Daily Mail’s suggestion of Michael Edwards being on United’s radar is to be believed. Edwards was the Liverpool recruitment guru who helped secure the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane.
The ex-Liverpool man would come in as an assistant to support John Murtough in his role as sporting director. However, the report also states he is reluctant to begin a new role directly after leaving Liverpool this summer. Chelsea are also considered to be interested.
Brentford’s sporting director Lee Dykes and Middlesbrough’s head of football Kieron Scott are two other names being considered.
United to miss out on Derby County youngster

The 18-year-old winger is a highly rated talent, and by all reports that has piqued United’s interest. However, despite United’s desire to sign Ebiowei, Fabrizio Romano has said he has chosen to sign for Crystal Palace.
Romano also stated that a medical has been completed and the transfer is all but complete.
