Man Utd Transfer News Round-up: Offer made for Christian Eriksen

On a day that’s seen Tottenham Hotspur close in on a deal for Yves Bissouma, frustrations are beginning to brew amongst Manchester United fans.

The work rivals are putting into transfers serves as nothing but a damning reminder of United’s sluggish approach to transfers. The hope coming into this window was that under the “new regime” the Reds would be more efficient and astute about their business. However, the last few days have proved otherwise.

Here are today’s top United transfer headlines as the club continues to barter and contemplate finances.

Offer made for Christian Eriksen

David Ornstein had the pleasure of publishing United’s biggest story of the window so far. Eriksen has emerged as a potential target for United after an impressive return to the Premier League at Brentford.

The Dane spent time training with Erik ten Hag he stepped up his fitness in search of a new club. Ten Hag’s act of goodwill towards the 30-year-old could prove pivotal as United could be rivalled by Eriksen’s former club Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have the added incentive of Champions League football as well as a seven-year history with the midfielder. However, for Eriksen, the Champions League is not of grave importance.

“I have different offers and options, which we are considering, and then we make a decision”, he told Viaplay.

“I would love to play Champions League football again. I know how much fun it is, but it isn’t essential for me”.

United remain in talks for De Jong but could face competition from Manchester City

For a deal that came out of the blue and was brimming with excitement, De Jong to Old Trafford is beginning to drag.

AS in Spain have suggested that the deal is reaching a decisive stage. While ESPN hold that United and Barcelona are still apart in terms of their valuation of the player.

The story from the Telegraph suggests that Eriksen approaches could be a fallback option should the club fail to land Eriksen as opposed to both. James Ducker did however stress that it is unclear either way.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are interested in Frenkie de Jong but are unwilling to pay the quoted €85m. Instead, the Citizens could use Bernardo Silva, a player the Blaugrana are interested in, in an exchange.

Anthony Martial set for the axe

According to ESPN, despite United’s failure to sign Darwin Nunez, United are still looking to sell Anthony Martial. The Frenchman’s departure could result in additional funds that bolster United’s transfer kitty. Cristopher Nkunku is an alternative attacking option the club remains interested in.

Vitinha emerges as a transfer target

Vitinha, who spent the 2019/2020 season on loan at Wolves, has been earmarked for an ‘imminent’ return to the Premier League.

Portuguese reports suggest United are the club most interested in the 22-year-old central midfielder. United would have to pay Vitinha’s £34m release clause to secure his services.
