Marcus Rashford wins Manchester United Player of the Month award for February

Marcus Rashford has won Manchester United’s Player of the Month award for February.
The 25-year-old has achieved the award for the third consecutive month after maintaining his relentless goalscoring form since the restart of club football after the Qatar World Cup in December 2022.
The Englishman is continuing to enjoy his renaissance this season under boss Erik ten Hag, who himself bagged an award by winning the Premier League Manager of the Month accolade for the second time this campaign.
Brazilian midfielders Fred and Casemiro were also nominees for the club award, claiming 11% and 42% of the vote on the official club app respectively, but it was Rashford who come out on top with 47% of the votes.
The forward started the month on the scoresheet when he slotted the ball home from Luke Shaw’s cross against Crystal Palace on the 4th February to score the second goal in a 2-1 home win, followed by a delicious glancing header just four days later to spark a fightback at home to Leeds United, where his side grabbed a point in a 2-2 draw.
Rashford was the thorn in the side of the Yorkshire outfit once more on the 12th of the month when he broke the deadlock with another header in a tense encounter at Elland Road as United went on to win 2-0 late on. He then scored a crucial equaliser away at Camp Nou the following Thursday in the Europa League play-off tie first leg, before forcing a Joules Kounde own goal a matter of minutes later to turn the game on its head.
The scintillating form continued back into domestic action with a double against Leicester City on the 19th February in a 3-0 victory with two clinical strikes beyond Danny Ward with one in either half.
After drawing a blank against Barcelona in the second leg of the Europe League play-off tie, Rashford went on to score his side’s second goal in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, with a deflected effort beyond Loris Karius to put United on course for a first trophy lift since 2017.
The goal at Wembley was the 25th of Rashford’s best scoring season to date, and he has since gone on to bag his 26th against Real Betis in the Europa League round of sixteen. The cup-final strike also made it seven goals in seven games for February.
Not only is he Player of the Month for the club, he is also Player of the Month for the Premier League. His Premier League Player of the Month award was part of a club treble that saw Ten Hag win Manager of the Month and David De Gea win Save of the Month for the division.
Rashford’s February coup follows Lisandro Martinez (August), Christian Eriksen (September), Casemiro (October) and Alejandro Garnacho (November) in winning the award, as well as his own wins in both December and January.
Congratulations to Rashford and long may the good form continue.
