Brighton vs Manchester United 7th May 2022

Manchester United travel to Brighton for the Reds’ penultimate outing of a season to forget.

Competition: Premier League
Venue: Amex Stadium
Kick-Off: 17:30 UK Time
Channel: Sky Sports

How do Manchester United look?

United performed admirably vs Brentford, with Interim boss Ralf Rangnick saying that the players “enjoyed” taking part in the 3-0 victory. However, where there’s sunshine there always seems to be murky clouds following the Reds. Rangnick’s substitutions were the cause of some controversy among player family members as Jesse Lingard was denied his Old Trafford farewell.

Lingard’s brother called out the “classless” running of the club after Lingard was snubbed an introduction onto the field vs Brentford. The change would have seen him take to Old Trafford for the final time as his contract expires this summer. Instead, Rangnick opted to introduce Fred, Phil Jones and Cavani. The latter two may also find themselves departing the club this summer. United’s interim said:

“To start with, in the last couple of weeks under my tenure, he has played far more games than he used to.

“Number two, on game day against Chelsea he asked me to release him from the game & training the following day for personal family reasons.”

Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s return will come as a boost for United’s squad, but the Reds will be without an out-of-form Marcus Rashford who is suffering from Bronchitis.

Brighton are still the same side they’ve been under potter: painfully inconsistent and in need of a marksman. The Seagulls are safe and most definitely on the Brighton beaches. That hasn’t been reflected in their results though as they can claim two back to back wins in North London. In their recent two games, Brighton beat both Arsenal and Tottenham and will likely be looking to cause a further upset on Saturday afternoon.

Prediction

United seem to have turned a corner with, positivity seeming to pour back into the club. The likes of Alejandro Garnacho’s presence in the squad has given the side some life. Hopefully, that can continue on for these last two games.
