Match Preview : Liverpool vs Manchester United

The tables have turned in this English classic. Without a doubt, Liverpool, as much as it pains to admit, have put this league to shame with their consistency. If you were to ask me a decade ago who would be steamrolling the league in this fashion, I would have had you arrested for drunken disorderly for even whispering ‘Liverpool’. But, as I said before, this is England’s El Classico. Liverpool vs Manchester United as a fixture is built on hatred and fine margins and will continue to do so… at least we hope for this weekend…

Marcus Rashford is the big injury concern going into this fixture. His form this season has made him undroppable. However, that has seemed to come back to bite us with him sustaining an injury within minutes of coming on against Wolves. Ole Solskjaer said it will be one of those ‘on the day things’ like Harry Maguire. That just translates as ‘he’s fit but we don’t want to let them lot know’. At least I’m praying that’s the case.

Ashley Young’s departure from the club hasn’t left us thin at all. Ole name-checked the likes of Dalot and Fosu Mensah who are more than capable to fill Young’s boots. Ethan Laird wasn’t namechecked, but I feel when given his opportunity, like Brandon Williams, he will take it.

Whether you call them VARpool or VAR’s sugar babe, the reality is that since we drew with them, Liverpool haven’t dropped a single point in the league. Playing them at Anfield will be no easy feat. The LFC Bible was kind enough to answer some questions:

What is the secret behind Liverpool’s consistency this season?

Simply Jurgen Klopp. He puts a winning mentality into this team.

Who should Manchester United be most afraid of in this fixture?

Sadio Mane. He hasn’t been on top form of late but can trouble any team at any point. – African Player Of The Year

Is the United game, personally for you, still one that you look forward to?

Not so much now, but it is still a great rivalry, but both games against Man City are the ones I look forward to!

Prediction: Liverpool vs Manchester United 3-0
