Ole Solkjaer made six changed obviously with an eye on the Manchester Derby at the weekend. Two of the changes were forced unfortunately Arron Wan Bissaka is nursing a knock from the weekend and Harry Maguire rolled his ankle in Training on Wednesday Eric Bailly and Diego Dalot stepped in the positions. Ighalo and Lingard took the positions of Martial and James. Juan Mata came in for Nemanja Matic and Sergio Romero to replace David DeGea in the United Goal after the weekend probably to take some pressure of the Spaniard who has been under some pressure lately.

On a bitterly cold night in Derby, United booked there place in the quarter-finals, for a game that will be Remembered for club Legend Wayne Rooneys first game against United after his American adventure he captained the  Derby side tonight.  The travelling support of united fans sang his name for the majority of the match showing that he will always be legend no matter what shirt he wears.

The game started slowly and it only fitting that the first real chance fell to Wayne Rooney on 18 minutes with an inswinging freekick that was comfortably collected by Sergio Romero.

Juan Mata had the Games next chance latching on to a Bruno Fernandes pass to hit a low shot that was collected by Roos.

After a what we will call an Ighalo sighter United really started that they were here to win and on 33 mins the deservedly took the lead with Like Shaw hitting a left-footed shot into the ground only for it to loop over Roos stranded in the Derby Goal with a slight deflection off Lingard.

Luke Shaw continued in his current form and turned provider for on 41 minutes smashing a pass into the box for Ighalo to beat to the defender and bury it in the bottom left corner.

Ex-United player Tom Lawrence had to be subbed off near the end of the first half.

HALF TIME: Derby 0-2 Manchester United

Derby came out in the second half and almost scored through Martyn Waghorn

Scott Mctominay had a shot fly wide and was in the thick of the action from here on in rilling the home crowd as he didn’t hold back at any point.

On 70 minutes United killed the game off When Mata sent a pass across for Ighalo to Take a well-aimed shot for it to rebound back for him to volley into the net.

Rooney had a Freekick that tested Romero but had to make do with a standing ovation from the travelling fans.
