Match Review : Manchester City vs Manchester United

Even with the announcement of new signing Bruno Fernandes there was a sense of Doom for Manchester United tonight. After the total schooling they took in the first-leg and without Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay they away had every reason for thinking it was over before it even started.

For the first eighteen minutes City totally controlled the game with Aguero and Mahrez both testing De Gea early on and Sterling have a penalty claim turned down after Harry Maguire fell over himself in the box. (Phil Jones is helping Harry settle in according to reports at the club).

City were dominant in possession throughout the first half.

On thirty-five minutes against the run of play united got a free kick. Fred’s free kick into the box was only cleared as far as Matic who volleyed home from fifteen yards giving Claudio Bravo no chance.

0-1 (3-2) Matic 35

City were shaken (maybe). On the 42nd minute Raheem Sterling thought he had scored his first goal against United but it was rightly flagged offside. (De Bruyne’s pass to Sterling was Football porn).

James for Greenwood (45) Greenwood took a knock in the first half.

Early in the second half harry Maguire nearly continued his scoring form from Fred’s free kick but headed it over.

Sterling missed another chance in the 59 minute when he opted to cut inside instead of just hitting when De Bruyne released him again .

Ole was seen shouting at Jesse Lingard “one more and your F*cking off” as Lingard dismal passing display continued in to the second half.

Pereira for Lingard(65)

Matic who had been booked earlier in the game and was about to go from zero to hero to fuck me again ………Red card Matic 76minutes.

Mata for Shaw (74)

Manchester United had one more chance late on with 10 men United made a valiant effort but on 84 minutes city put the ball in the back of De Gea’s net again only for Aguero to be ruled offside this time.United win at the Eithad but it not enough to take us through to the final.

Final Score: 3-2

Ole beat city at home with a decimated team and only 10 men on the field  becoming one of only three managers to ever beat Pep Guardiola  Home/Away the other two being Jose and Jürgen, not bad company…

Man of The Match; Matic (up until 76mins)

The Serb bossed midfield held the line defended well got his goal… not bad for a player who most say is past it.
