Match Review: Newcastle United vs Manchester United

Man United beat Newcastle 4-1 in a action filled last 10 minutes at St James Park.

After a rocky start to the season United came out comfortable winners after going one mile down writhing the first two minutes.

An own goal from Luke Shaw in the second minute put the red one behind. The goal again highlighted the weaknesses in United’s back line that hopefully Alex Telles should be able to assist with.

The equaliser came from the skipper, Harry Maguire when he headed home from a corner in the 23rd minute. It was a well needed goal for the Englishman after he came under massive scrutiny in the international break.

United won yet another penalty when Rashford was brought down in the area. It was reviewed by the pitch side screen and determined to be enough contact for a spot kick.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up and ended his 100% conversion rate as his thunderous attempted was saved.

We didn’t see another goal until the 86th minute, when a classic counterattack goal put United 2-1 up. The buildup play was one of the best this season started by Van De Beek in their own half and finished off by Bruno Fernandes.

Wan Bissaka then grabbed his first senior goal with a great finish in the roof of net in the 90th minute.

The game was won by another counter attacking goal when Marcus Rashford broke through and finished off a one on one to wrap up the match.

The scoreline suggests a battering for United, but again they started shakey. They look like a team that really lacks confidence at the moment, but once the goals came in they started to dominate. Ole also started a very weak side in hopes of resting a few players for the Champions League clash against PSG on Tuesday. They also have the introduction of Cavani, Telles and Martial back from suspension, so hopefully, things are only on the mend from here.
