Match Review : Tranmere Rovers vs Manchester United

After a horrendous couple of weeks involving two defeats and no Transfer dealings. United fans have had enough planned demonstrations and walkouts were the topic of today, The FA cup was last on a lot of peoples minds. Ole named a near full-strength squad for the fourth round tie.
Well, it is the FA Cup and one thing was for sure, Ole wasn’t taking any chances.
To call Tranmere’s pitch a pitch was a serious overstatement. Manchester United started strong and grew into the game quickly taking just ten minutes for Harry Maguire to hit a beautiful strike into the top corner (it might have taken a deflection) for his first GOAL in United colours. Just three minutes later Diego Dalot doubled the lead with a quality hit after a lovely ball supplied by Anthony Martial to make the score 2-0 United.
Thirteen minutes in 2-0
United was quickly on the attack again .. arrogance flowing through the team like fire we could do no wrong. Again, Harry Maguire romped forward through the Tranmere midfield unchallenged and with a simple pass unlocked Jesse Lingard for him to curl it perfectly in goal almost making it all look too easy. United were purring. 16 minutes in 3-0.
Tranmere did apply some pressure testing Romero in goal a couple of times but the game was effectively over.
40 minutes in and United were at it again. Matic (who played well today) supplied by Martial(again) broke into the penalty area forcing a corner. A well taken long corner came in cue… Phil Jones …. number 4 making it 4.
Goal number five came via Anthony Martial who had been the provider most of the day dispatched in the same top corner as Lingard’s curler.
Half time…
Manchester United were not finished yet!
The second half started the with much of the same Chong(a second-half sub for Martial) breaking clear and being brought down in the box by steve davies. Penalty and up stepped the star boy Mason Greenwood to make it a clean sweep having now scored in every competition this season.
Game over
man of the Match: Jesse Lingard
After the year Jesse has had this was the performance we were waiting for.
