AS Roma 3-2 Manchester United (2-6) | Europa League Semifinal 2nd Leg
Despite losing, Manchester United ‘s work in the first leg sees Solskjaer reach his first final as United’s manager.
Two superb goals from Edinson Cavani equaled the away goal tally and a De Gea masterclass between the sticks saved United from embarrassment in Rome.
David de Gea: 10
The Spaniard’s stock has decreased amongst fans this season but make no mistake about it, had De Gea not performed how he did, United would not be looking at the prospect of a second Europa league victory.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 6
Was substituted at half-time because of an early yellow card – the right back was solid none the less.
Eric Bailly: 6
Definitely displayed some ring rust due to a lack of involvement but still managed to catch the eye with a number of eccentric moments. One of whom included a solo run which he failed to complete the final pass.
Harry Maguire: 6
A largely solid performance from the captain. At times his clearances left a little to be desired however.
Luke Shaw: 5
The left-back didn’t really seem up to the game. Despite only playing the first 45 minutes there were moments where he allowed the game to drift.
Midfield
Fred: 7
A good showing from the Brazilian who was tidy in his play, he even topped off his performance with a great assist for the opener.
Paul Pogba: 5
Played a little deeper than he has recently so there was some increased defensive responsibility. His role seemed too much for him as he failed to take charge of the midfield at times.

Bruno Fernandes’ game can be best described as an architectural role. He was involved in everything good going forward with key touches and elegant passes forward.
Donny van de Beek: 6
Showed glimpses of quality but the game drifted him by. His workrate at times has to be commended.
Attack
Mason Greenwood: 6
Greenwood was a constant threat all game and looked like causing real problems for Roma. The goal didn’t come but he can be proud of his performance on his 100th United appearance.

Another stellar display from a stellar striker. He missed chances but the two he took showed his quality. Not only was the strikers finishing exemplary but his movement was excellent also.
Substitutes
Alex Telles: 4
His position in the back four was targeted by Roma and his lack of defensive positioning left the team vulnerable on that side.
Brandon Williams: 5
Marcus Rashford: 6
