Dean Henderson: 7

Our young goalkeeper doesn’t seem to put a foot wrong does he? Another important performance from Dean again today. The 23-year-old was busier than he was against Luton but managed it fantastically with 2 vital saves.

Defence

Diogo Dalot: 5

A rare appearance for a man that seems to be out of favour and on his way out. He wasn’t brilliant but what can you expect from someone who seldom gets an opportunity to showcase his quality. He’s a player I personally like a lot, his touches and runs look good on the eye. Tonight however, he was defensively suspect and was caught out of position a lot.

Eric Bailly: 9

I have the feeling we’ll soon run out of superlatives for Bailly’s performances. Is this not what we want? Pace, dominance and intelligence. All we need him to do is stay fit and our defensive problems look less of an issue. Man of the Match performance at the back.

Victor Lindelöf: 6

Lindelof wasn’t as assured at centre back like Bailly, but he didn’t need to be ironically as Bailly was there.

Brandon Williams: 7

The left back looked good going forward and put in a solid defensive performance. While he did drift inward as usual he had a positive game.

Midfield

Fred: 5

Fred our of possession seems to be stronger in it, which in a deeper role isn’t ideal but not terrible. Winning the ball back was his strength tonight. Some of his passing however was extremely sloppy.

Scott McTominay: 7

McTominay got on the goal sheet with a great header on the end of a Juan Mata free kick. His overall game was tidy, I felt he didn’t have an obviously amazing performance but was solid.

Donny van de Beek: 8

What a footballer we have on our hands! He doesn’t show on the ball very often, because he doesn’t have to. Play the ball into him and he’ll create something, like he did to assist Juan Mata’s goal. We saw the best of the Dutchman as Rashford and Pogba was introduced, the intricate play was brilliant to watch.

Attack

Juan Mata: 9

Juan Mata rolled back the years with his performance. Running down the wing? Taking on full backs? Ok it was 6”6 Dan Burn but it was good to see nevertheless. He also topped off his performance with an assist and well taken goal.

Daniel James: 4

James was decent in the first half but fell off massively in the second. Disappointing performance from a player that needed a good game.

Odion Ighalo: 4

The less said about Ighalo the better. He doesn’t look fit and proving to be the sub par panic buy we all feared.

Substitutes

Paul Pogba: 7

A needed goal and performance from Paul Pogba.

Marcus Rashford: 6

Jesse Lingard: n/a
