Player Ratings: FK Partizan VS Manchester United

Sergio Romero: 7

The Argentinian was a bit busier than we would’ve helped but held strong and made some good saves. The reflex save for Asano’s header was definitely the pick of the bunch.

Aaron Wan Bissaka: 6

Wan Bissaka played out of position in a wing-back role. In the role you expect a level attacking support, however, the right-back didn’t really deliver despite showing some good signs. His tenacity in the first half has to be commended, as his resilience led to Lingard hitting the post on the edge of the box.

Phil Jones: 6

Jones’ performance was also one that showed good signs and at times was worrying. In one on one situations, he looked comfortable but looked extremely erratic and off the pace at times.

Harry Maguire: 6

Maguire was the man in the armband today and he was vocally commanding and seemed to grow in it. However, defensively one on one with Umar Sadiq he was getting twisted and turned. And Soumah absolutely put him on his proverbial which was unforgivable.

Marcos Rojo: 6

In a back 3 it is difficult to analyse their individual performances but Rojo on the left slide was an outlet and just wasted the ball on numerous occasions with long balls to the opposition. Not the first time from the CB, his decision making is very poor.

Brandon Williams: 8

My man of the Match for today, grit and determination. The Left back’s willingness to get forward is really refreshing and in terms of form the best right back at the club in my opinion.

James Garner: 7

Garner was promising, there were real signs of a top player in the making. Today was his full debut, and he looked surprisingly at ease. But with all youth there is room for improvement in his performance, I felt defensively he left us a bit vulnerable.

Scott McTominay: 6

In the first half, we saw a freer Scott McTominay. He was getting on the ball in attacking areas and playing passes in the final third. In the second half by instruction or fitness, the players seemed to sit back allowing Partizan into the game which led to McTominay fading away.

Juan Mata: 5

Juan Mata was anonymous for large parts of the game. Extremely disappointing considering the standards Pereira set at the weekend. His days are numbered in all honesty.

Jesse Lingard: 5

Jesse came back into the side after injury and I think we were all hoping for a boost in relation to his recent performances. While he was sharp at times I think he was to blame along with Mata for the lack of creativity.

Anthony Martial: 6

Martial was extremely rusty which is understandable after spending 8 weeks out. The ball didn’t stick at his feet which resulted in us inviting pressure. The Frenchman did take his penalty well.

Substitutes

Marcus Rashford: 6

Daniel James: 6

Andreas Pereira: n/a
