David de Gea: 5

De Gea was called upon very little. However, for the first goal, the Spaniard’s positioning let him down allowing him to be beaten from outside the box.

Defence

Victor Lindelof: 5

Lindelof played at right back in Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s absence. The Swede looked out of sorts, unable to deal with the directness of Harvey Barnes on that side. Fitness probably had a lot to do with Lindelof’s shaky display, his continuing back trouble resulted in his substitution in the second half.

Eric Bailly: 6

Provided a different dynamic to Manchester United’s defence but was caught half asleep when he failed to mark Jamie Vardy for Leicester City’s late equaliser.

Harry Maguire: 5

Maguire has a solid performance but really should’ve done more to prevent the Leicester’s equaliser. The cross came in and he was nowhere near the ball, he should’ve got out and cleared his lines and been dominant like we needed. For the most part, the Manchester United captain kept Vardy quiet.

Luke Shaw: 6

The best defensive performer for United. His interceptions meant that there was no getting past Shaw on that side. The only time he let slip was when he failed to prevent the Ayoze Perez’s cross that led to the Vardy equaliser, which is an unfortunate stain on an almost flawless display.

Midfield

Scott McTominay: 6

The Scottish international wasn’t as dynamic and all-action as he was vs Leeds which is down to the quality of opposition. Overall he had a decent game but failed to close down Barnes for Leicester’s first goal.

Fred: 7

Fred’s job was a simple one. He was given the role of staying on James Maddison, Leicester’s chief creator. The Leicester City midfielder was terrorised all game by Fred’s willingness to get stuck into the England international. Going forward Fred’s quick turn of play allowed United to control the game T the times they did.

Bruno Fernandes: 8

Another goal and assist for the Magnifico. He wasn’t great, but again he’s showing he doesn’t have to be at his best to effect games. Had United not let slip he would’ve single-handedly won three points for the Reds.

Attack

Daniel James: 6

Just like Leeds last week was the perfect game for the Welshman, Leicester today wasn’t. He didn’t really get into the game despite playing a part in the opening goal, he was anonymous for the rest of the time he was on the field.

Marcus Rashford: 7

Rashford had a glorious chance to put United ahead earlier than he did but put his free header over the bar. Even though he scored, that Earle chance missed summed up his night, missed chances but a lot of effort and getting in behind.

Anthony Martial: 6

Martial has taken on a new role in Manchester United’s attack. He’s no longer forcing himself to be a striker that busts a gut to score goals. The Frenchman is emphasising his creative play, happy to set things up for his teammates. Against Leicester it didn’t quite come off though.
