Player Ratings: Luton Town vs Manchester United
Luton Town vs Manchester United 0-3 | Carabao Cup | Player Ratings
Dean Henderson: 7
What a save! Henderson had one contribution to make to game and that was a brilliant back post save in the final 10 minutes to keep out Luton. His save could prove a huge statement of intent in relation to the position between the sticks.
Defence
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 6
Considering it was his first appearance this season, it was a solid performance from the right back. His well earned rest seemed to have done him some good he looked comfortable today.

Quite like Henderson, Bailly’s performance can be read as a statement. Following Lindelof’s horror show at the weekend, the position alongside Maguire is anyone’s to take. Bailly was assured and dominant, I hope for one we see him against Brighton this weekend.
Harry Maguire: 6
Maguire looked good today, even with the opposition’s level being taken into account. A performance that the Manchester United captain definitely needed.
Brandon Williams: 6
Williams was clearly targeted by Luton. From minute 1 he was subject to some intense battering from the opposition. Saying that however he had a relatively good game, however going forward he needs to exploit space more.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic: 7
Again Luton Town cannot be the barometer for the quality of opponent we have ahead. However, Matic showed his importance once again by providing a calmness to the midfield, a calmness we lacked against Palace.

Fred was perhaps unlucky to miss out against Palace due to lack of fitness. The Brazilian participated in the full 90 today and for me wrote himself into the managers plans going forward. A serious dilemma is on the cards for Solskjaer when picking his best side.
Donny van de Beek: 7
The Dutchman showed his “Dutchness”. From his intelligent runs and excellent ball control, it was a good full debut for Van de Beek. He was unlucky to not be involved in a goal today also.
Attack
Jesse Lingard: 6
Lingard lacked in terms of his decision making and quality in the final third but his energy was integral in a game void of vitality.

Juan Mata slotted always his penalty confidently. A penalty that summed up his performance. He was the main man for the minutes he played and he dictated the play.
Odion Ighalo: 4
By some way our most disappointing performer. The margin would’ve been a lot larger earlier had Ighalo been sharp. He was poor both on the ball and off it. It was his first game of the season so we’ll cut him some slack.
