Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-1 AC Milan
Manchester United 1-1 AC Milan | Europa League RO16 1st Leg | Player Ratings
Dean Henderson: 5
Henderson’s over-enthusiasm to be United’s number one showed in Milan’s equaliser. He made the header harder than it needed to be to save by purposefully losing his footing for a spectacular save.
Defence
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 6
The right-back saw around 70 minutes of football before substituted. He largely dealt with the threat of Diogo Dalot well and found himself in attacking areas.
Eric Bailly: 7
Raphael Leao speed would typically be difficult to deal with for any central defender but Bailly, one-on-one dealt with the threat extraordinarily well.

His overall performance wasn’t bad but football is a game of fine margins. At the highest level, chances like Maguire had in the first half are few and far between. Has to go down as one of the misses of the season. “One of”…
Alex Telles: 6
Telles contributed with some important last-ditch headers but ultimately didn’t do much else for a player of his supposed quality.
Midfield
Scott McTominay: 5
Totally lost the midfield battle. McTominay found himself getting overrun in midfield at times which invited huge amounts of pressure on the back four.
Nemanja Matic: 5
Had a similar game to McTominay on multiple levels. Matic struggled to maintain the ball to produce any quality. Defensively the Serb struggled with the intensity and energy of the opposition midfield.

In the first half, the game passed Fernandes by as his game was limited to Hollywood passes that weren’t coming off. In the second, he found himself in a lot of dangerous areas able to influence play more. His assist for Amad Diallo was sublime, right in the sweet spot.
Attack
Daniel James: 5
Just when you thought misses couldn’t get any worse in the second half James misses an open goal at the back post. His performance lacked any real quality which is disappointing considering his recent form.

Only played for the first 45 minutes after being subbed due to an injury but when he did play he was starved of any sort of possession.
Mason Greenwood: 5
Lacked his usual quality on the ball and lost possession on a number of occasions. Greenwood did however set up the James chance with some great ball work but otherwise struggled to affect proceedings.
Substitutes
Amad Diallo: 7
The instinct to get his goal with his quick movement deserves plaudits alone but the finish matched it. The neck muscles and intelligence required for that goal make the goal what it was, excellent. A first United goal for Amad, and with that showing, it’s definitely the first of many.
Luke Shaw: 6
Fred: 4
Brandon Williams: 6
