Player Ratings: Manchester United 1-1 Chelsea

Manchester United react quickly to Chelsea’s early domination to secure a point at Old Trafford.
United have lacked a lot this season, and effort is something that United have failed to produce in recent weeks. That was no different as United spent the first half chasing the boys in blue. Chelsea went into halftime frustrated that they had not capitalised on United’s sorry display.
15 minutes into the second half Chelsea had finally opened the scoring. Marcos Alonso found space in United’s box to hammer home only for Cristiano Ronaldo to reply within two minutes. From then on, Chelsea looked the more likely but had to settle for shared points at Old Trafford.
Here’s how each player performed with a rating out of 10:
Goalkeeper and defence
David de Gea: 7
Once again De Gea shone through in a poor United performance. His vital early saves kept United in the game.

Defensively Dalot was poor and failed to contribute much going forward. The right-back could’ve been tighter on Marcos Alonso who scored the Chelsea goal.
Victor Lindelof: 5
A positionally worrying showing at times from the Swede but overall a solid performance.
Raphael Varane: 6
Varane put in a cultured shift and seemed not to break a sweat under Chelsea’s early pressure.
Alex Telles: 5
Chelsea’s full-backs had a lot of joy during the game and Telles struggled to deal with the onslaught.

Another game, another assist for United’s defensive midfielder. Despite being unable to complete the game due to his age he looked dynamic in the minutes he did complete.
Scott McTominay: 5
McTominay struggled under N’golo Kante’s immense pressure throughout the game. He just couldn’t shake the Frenchman and that affected his performance.
Bruno Fernandes: 5
Another wholly absent performance from Fernandes. While there was some effort, there ultimately wasn’t enough quality in possession.
Attack
Anthony Elanga: 5
Elanga drifted in and out of the game and didn’t really affect proceedings.
Marcus Rashford: 3
Another disappointing performance from United’s number 10. Lifeless going forward and tired when tracking back, Rashford’s performances are of huge concern.

Ronaldo’s performances in recent weeks have gone under the radar due to United’s woeful displays. However, Ronaldo since March has seemingly shown more effort than most of the squad. He was heavily criticised for his lack of distance covered early on in the season, now he is the one working hardest. At the age he’s at, he’s a credit to Manchester United football club.
