Player Ratings: Manchester United 2-2 Sevilla

Manchester United have drawn 2-2 with Sevilla at Old Trafford in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.
The game saw Manchester United start strong, taking a two-goal lead after just 20 minutes thanks to a brace from Marcel Sabitzer. United created many chances in the first half and ideally should’ve put the game to bed but the levels dropped during the second half and saw United allowing more of the ball to the opposition. Injuries to Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez also impacted the game and the latter is now out for the rest of the season. The result means that United must win away in Spain if they hope to progress through to the semi-finals. No small feat when visiting the six-time winners of the competition. United are back in action this weekend, facing Nottingham Forest on Sunday
Here’s a rundown on how the players performed in the game with each player receiving a rating out of 10.
Goalkeeper and Defence
David de Gea: 7
Made important saves, particularly in the second half after not having as much to do in the first half but was ultimately let down by his two defenders.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 6.5
Wan Bissaka had a decent performance, he didn’t do much wrong in the game, pitched in defensively and was decent attacking-wise as well as he continues to make his claim to be United’s starting right back.
Raphael Varane: 7
A solid performance from the French international including a key-headed clearance off the goal line. Unfortunately, he made way at half-time due to injury.
Lisandro Martinez: 7.5
Another great performance from the Argentine, a solid rock at the back an instrumental to how United play due to his technical ability and security on the ball.
Tyrell Malacia: 4
Malacia had his worst game of the season, Was on ropes for much of the game and gifted Sevilla their opener to get back into the tie after failing to clear the ball and scoring an own goal off Navas’ cross.
Midfield
Marcel Sabitzer: 8.5
Scored a brace and provided a constant goal threat throughout the game as he continues to have a good loan spell at the club.
Casemiro: 7.5
His first appearance since his suspension in March the Brazillian looked a ittle off the mark and also could’ve done better for Sevilla’s equalizer
Bruno Fernandes: 7
Bruno set up the first goal very well and looked lively again. Unfortunately he picked up a harsh yellow card and thus misses the vital second leg.
Attack
Antony: 7.5
Antony provided a constant threat and was unlucky not to score with one of his strikes hitting the woodwork. Cut Sevilla open multiples times with his dynamic runs.
Anthony Martial: 7.5
An excellent performance from Martial, his hold-up and link-up play was stellar, and he set up Sabitzer’s second with a nice through ball. Ideally, he would’ve been on the pitch longer.
Jadon Sancho: 5.5
Unlucky to have his goal called for offside but other than that Sancho didn’t offer much in the game. Lacked the intensity needed to punish Sevilla and failed to pose a threat.
Substitutes
Harry Maguire: 5
Wout Weghorst: 4
Christian Eriksen: 6
