Player Ratings: Manchester United 3-1 West Ham
Manchester United have just beaten West Ham 3-1 at Old Trafford, making their way into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup as the Reds eye up their next piece of silverware after defeating Newcastle to clinch the League Cup on Sunday.
With a trip to Anfield on the weekend Ten Hag made sure to rotate his players with the likes of Rashford, Varane, Martinez and Casemiro all absent from the starting XI.
Here’s a rundown on how the players performed with each receiving a rating out of 10.
Goalkeeper and Defence
David de Gea: 6.5
Came up with big saves, particularly from Antonio on two occasions but poor distribution and playing out from the back put United in danger.
Diogo Dalot: 5
Switched off for Benrahma’s opener and despite some decent drives and defensive work, nothing too special from the Portuguese right back tonight.
Victor Lindelof: 5
Did not look comfortable on the ball alongside Maguire and after a poor first half he made way for Lisandro Martinez shortly after West Ham scored early in the second half.
Harry Maguire: 5.5
Lost his battles with Antonio and his poor performance on the ball didn’t help United when trying to play out from the back. Was better in the second half but overall a forgetful performance
Tyrell Malacia: 6.5
Energy and work rate was high and was probably the best out of a poor back 4 performance. His quality on the ball was lacking at times, however.
Midfield
Scott McTominay: 4
McTominay had a poor game today, sloppy passing and hiding from the ball affected the whole team and contributed to the poor first half performance.
Marcel Sabitzer: 6
Had a good presence in the final third including a shot early on that was well saved by Areola but struggled alongside McTominay.
Bruno Fernandes: 7
Poor first half with poor decisions in the final third but created excellent changes in the second half including the equaliser.
Attack
Antony: 5
A quiet night for the Brazilian in a game where he had little impact. Was rightly subbed for Marcus Rashford after West Ham’s equaliser.
Alejandro Garnacho: 8
Provided some needed width and looked threatening on the wing. Could’ve made some better decisions in the final third but finished a brilliant chance coming off a blocked shot to score his goal.
Wout Weghorst: 7
Some decent link up play including great work to assist Fred’s late goal as well as Garnacho’s winning goal coming from his blocked shot. A decent performance from the Dutchman today.
Substitutes
Marcus Rashford: 6.5
Lisandro Martinez: 6
Fred: 7
Casemiro: 6.5
