Player Ratings : Manchester United VS Arsenal

David De Gea: 7

I don’t think I’ve seen a Manchester United vs Arsenal game with so few chances created. However the shot by Saka was well saved by De Gea and Guendouzi’s follow up was well controlled by our number one also. A good all round performance from Spanish Dave.

Ashley Young: 5

Ashley Young filled in at right back in the absence of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. And the 21-year-old’s absence was truly felt. Young was bullied by an 18-year-old and offensively inept. Below average showing.

Victor Lindelof: 6

Victor Lindelof seems to be showing his frailties so far this season. The Swedes concentration seems to be lacking, you could see it in the way he allowed Torreira to run across him for a decent chance at goal. Lindelof wasn’t to blame for the Arsenal goal but ultimately wasn’t as solid as he has been in the past.

Harry Maguire: 7

Game in game out you can really see that we have been deprived of a half decent leader at centre back for too long. I really enjoy watching Maguire at the moment and truly he doesn’t deserve our poor form.

Axel Tuanzebe: 7

As Ashley Young was playing at right back left back was vacant and was filled well by Axel Tuanzebe. Tuanzebe was the best player on the pitch in the first half but was unfortunately to blame for the Aubameyang goal. Other than that, it was an assured performance from Tuanzebe. Not even a left back!

Scott McTominay: 9

Before kick off I was continually told Guendouzi is better than McTominay. Today, his character, technique an performance were all superior to his Arsenal counter part. A performance that was tipped off with an excellent finish for the goal.

Paul Pogba: 6

Paul Pogba’s performance today pretty much sums up his United career. At times he drove with the ball and spreaded the play excellently at times also. In other instances, he was non existent. I think once again however he’s a victim of Ole’s persistence, playing him deep. A shackled Paul Pogba performance.

Andreas Pereira: 7

I have criticised Pereira in the past for his poor ball retention however today I thought he was one of our better players. He did his best to be the link between midfield and attack and at times was really bright. I personally think we dropped two points as soon as he was substituted. If he can build on this performance he can be very useful going forward but not as a starter.

Jesse Lingard: 5

Another poor performance for Jesse. He’s really just stealing living at this point which is unfortunate coming from a big fan of his. The poor form continues.

Daniel James: 7

James was frightening on the counter, his pace is a real weapon. If we had a real out and out striker I think we would see more of an end product from the Welshman. His energy and desire has put him up there as our best attacker this season so far.

Marcus Rashford: 5

This over reliance on Marcus Rashford really needs to stop. He was clearly injured today so playing was never going to help his confidence. His finishing is really costing us at the moment, so an extended run out of the team maybe needed for hi to recharge his batteries.
