Player Ratings: Manchester United vs Bournemouth

Manchester United vs Bournemouth 5-2 |Premier League| Old Trafford| Player Ratings

David de Gea: 5

David De Gea didn’t look his most confident over the 90. A few lazy passes coupled with letting the ball in at his near post showed everyone he just wasn’t at it today.

Defence

Aaron Wan Bissaka: 6

A solid day at the office for our right back. When called upon defensively, he did what he does best. Going forward there was alot of effort but nothing really to worry Bournemouth.

Victor Lindelof: 7

A real improvement to Lindelof’s game in relation to recent performances. He looked confident on the ball and when tackling as well. Hopefully that can continue in this vain as there would be no real need for an upgrade in that department.

Harry Maguire: 6

Alongside Lindelof, Maguire has a very similar game with his added commanding presence. However, Stanislas skinned him far too easily for the opening goal of the game. As a Centre back you’ve got to be harder to beat than that. Other than that phase of play, a positive game from the skipper.

Luke Shaw: 6

Shaw is a player I think flatters to deceive, he spends a lot of time in attacking areas but he isn’t effective enough when in them. He rarely puts in a cross that challenges defences and chooses the safe option. That being said, I don’t think he put a foot wrong as we all know his deficiencies.

Midfield

Nemanja Matic: 6.5

Another good game from our Serbian midfield general. He misplaced a few passes than you’d like to see early on in the game. However, like everyone else he grew with the game and managed a good performance, before being replaced by Fred.

Paul Pogba: 7

No goals, no assists but we can still appreciate Paul Pogba. He just oozed quality with every touch of the ball and is proving yet again to be a vital cog in this machine. He was clearly targeted with 2/3 Bournemouth players but still managed to dictate the play alongside Matic.

Bruno Fernandes: 9

Pogba being targeted allowed June’s Manchester United Player of the Month to roam free. He was everywhere, left, right making the defenders look… 2 assists and a goal. He doesn’t just keeps racking up the numbers his finesse and everything about him is just delightful.

Attack

Marcus Rashford: 8

Marcus Rashford looked sharp today, he looks well on the way to regaining his form. The penalty goal he scored seemed to give him the confidence boost he needed. He was unlucky not to get a second due to his little toe being offside but good signs overall for the Englishman.

Mason Greenwood: 10

Left foot? Right foot? What is this guys strongest foot because I don’t think he has one. Any way he goes you just fancy him to leather it in. My man of the match, both of the goals he scored were at vital points in the game, to get us back in and then the second to take the game away from Bournemouth. Oh and yes he’s only 18.

Anthony Martial: 8

Another excellent game from Martial, he’s having these more often. The Frenchman isn’t necessarily always effecting the game although his goal was a contender for the best this year, him linking the game went a long way in allowing others around him to perform.

Substitutes

Eric Bailly: 6

Eric Bailly was a key component in the shaky start we had to the game, giving away a silly penalty and a bit of unaware positioning. But he warmed up, grew into the game and looked good for the remaining 40 minutes.

Fred: 7

Came on for Nemanja Matic and put a good shift in. He won the ball when he needed to and relieves pressure with some good passes. Good performance from Fred.

Daniel James: 6

Odion Ighalo: 6

Juan Mata: 6
