Player Ratings: Manchester United vs FC Copenhagen
Manchester United vs FC Copenhagen 1-0 | Player Ratings
Sergio Romero: 6
Sergio Romero has next to nothing to do. While Copenhagen played some good football around the box but they had very few chances that challenged the Argentinian.
Defence
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 6
A very “Aaron Wan Bissaka-esque” performance. Defensively he was solid but going forward I felt the team lacked with his woeful final ball.
Eric Bailly: 7
For me Eric Bailly showed us why he has been rated so highly and if he’s injury free what he can provide the team. He did have a phase where he dived in which could have led to us conceding a goal.
Harry Maguire: 6
A competent performance from the skipper. He didn’t do anything extraordinary.
Brandon Williams: 6
Brandon Williams started the game well. He got forward and wasn’t beaten defensively. As the game progressed I felt that he tired and allowed the opposition winger, Falk to get in behind him numerous times.
Midfield
Fred: 7
Fred was perhaps the player of the first half and in all honesty was unfortunate to be substituted when he was. This was by far his best performance post-Lockdown.
Paul Pogba: 7
The player Pogba has matured into excites me. For the naked footballing eye the fact that he’s not influencing games as much as he could. But for me the passes and link play all places together for a subtle positive performance.
Bruno Fernandes: 6
Bruno Fernandes is a truly interesting player. Everything he does is with an added flavour which can be both positive and negative, today, it was frustrating. Misplaced passes and being poor in possession summed his night up. Poor. But as per usual still got his goal which will annoy a few rival fans.
Attack
Mason Greenwood: 7
Greenwood looked decent tonight, VAR stole his goal but overall he was sharp and looked good.
Marcus Rashford: 5
Almost a stark contrast to Greenwood’s performance, Rashford struggled to impact the game positively. He did do some good things but was overall very wasteful in possession.
Anthony Martial: 8
The Frenchman continues to prove his doubters wrong. He played on the fringes in large parts of the game but when he received the ball he was the game changer. His dribbling ability is something so underrated in his game. He has to be the best dribbler we have, direct, taking people on, just amazing to watch. My man of the Match.
Substitutes
Juan Mata: 7.5
I began to question what Mata provides this team, especially after the LASK second leg. However, tonight, his cameo showed us what he’s about, pure creativity. The key when breaking down defences.
Nemanja Matic: 6
Victor Lindelof: 6
Jesse Lingard: 6
