Player Ratings : Manchester United VS Rochdale

Sergio Romero: 7
The best back up goalkeeper in world football has come to Manchester United’s aid once again. The Argentine’s penalty save the difference between us winning that tie or even further humiliation.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 5
In relation to the high standards Aaron Wan-Bissaka has set at Manchester United, today was his poorest performance as a whole. As an attacking threat he provided next to nothing and defensively he was caught out of position. However, one of the moments of a night to forget for United was his goal line clearance – sensational.
Axel Tuanzebe: 7
It was a fantastic touch by Solskjaer, to give Axel the armband against his hometown club Rochdale. The centre back didn’t shirk the responsibility, as he put on a commanding display. Only 21 years old as well.
Phil Jones: 5
I can’t quite remember what the line is about certainties in life but I know Phil Jones getting injured is definitely one of them.
Marcos Rojo: 6
I think Rojo is best described as an eccentric player. He loves taking shots and taking risks which is brilliant at times but massively frustrating at others. I am not too concerned with his performance at left back tonight, I wouldn’t expect him to play any important games for Manchester United going forward.
Fred: 6
For a Brazilian, one of my mane gripes with Fred is his inability to maintain possession. Him and Andreas seem to incapable of keeping the ball. Just seems strange to me. Fred was not bad by all means but it was Rochdale and we are calling for this man to play for us regularly in the Premier League. Average from Fred the red, but still a well taken penalty.
Paul Pogba: 6
I think you could tell that Pogba has been out for a few weeks based on his performance. He seemed off the pace and unable to fully achieve his long range passes that we all know him for. Hopefully the minutes in his leg will do him well for the Arsenal game.
Andreas Pereira: 5
As with Fred, Pereira’s ball retention leaves a lot to be desired. Pereira hasn’t seemed to have kicked on technically since his loans. That being said, his delivery was good and his penalty was taken with great aplomb.
Jesse Lingard: 4
Other than the assist Jesse Lingard was missing in action. Another poor performance to add to the collection.
Tahith Chong: 4
Tahith Chong really seem to lack the physicality and presence for men’s football in England. He’s coming up for 20 now so there is still time for him to fill out but I don’t see him cutting it at the top level for United however he still perhaps needs time.
Mason Greenwood: 8
Another game against inferior opposition, another game Manchester United have had to rely on a 17 year old to save them from complete humiliation. His goal during normal time was well taken and his penalty takes the same way. The boy literally has no weak foot.
Substitutions
Brandon Williams: 7
Brandon Williams is the lates youth star to debut under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Unlike Chong he looks physically ready as well as well as having a positional iq. A real prospect.
Juan Mata: 6
Juan Mata came on and had a few good touches but ultimately didn’t affect the actual game.
Daniel James: 7
Daniel James came on as our final sun but was somehow our best player. His runs and direct nature went a long way into getting the first goal of the game.
