Player Ratings: Newcastle United vs Manchester United
Newcastle United vs Manchester United 1-4 | Premier League | Player Ratings
David de Gea: 8
A throwback performance from the Spaniard between the sticks. He didn’t have a lot to do but but his 2 critical saves kept us from embarrassment at 1-1.
Aaron Wan Bissaka: 8
This is what we wanted from Wan Bissaka. A complete performance. Defensively he kept Saint-Maximin quiet but was positive moving forward. The cherry on top was his peach of a finish to grab his first Manchester United goal on his 50th appearance. Well deserved after a good performance.

One our lesser performers today, Lindelof was a huge contributor to the goal that we conceded. He was spun too easily by Callum Wilson which led to the build up for Shaw’s own goal. He also didn’t start well, so not great from him.
Harry Maguire: 7
One word to sum up his performance; Character. After being all over the papers, being everyone’s topic of conversation for his poor form and lack of leadership ability, he led the comeback. His headed goal quickly relieved the pain of Shaws own goal.
Luke Shaw: 6
Luke Shaw has a nightmare start. His poor positioning led to him scoring the own goal. Other than that he managed to turn his performance around with a solid display.
Midfield
Fred: 7
Fred alongside McTominay were vitalism covering the defence, a shield that was probably lacking against Spurs.
McTominay: 6
McTominay wasn’t as overtly solid as Fred but his ball recovery and recycling was integral in our quick attacks.
Bruno Fernandes: 8
Was it the it a great game from Bruno? No. He was at times wasteful in possession. But you can always count on him. He missed the penalty but didn’t let it phase him, as he a brilliant team goal which he started and assisted Marcus Rashford with a brilliant ball over the top. Pure class.

Juan Mata: 8
Strangely Juan Mata has arguably been our player of the season so far. His performances in the Carabao and today have been nothing short of excellent. His intelligence is there for everyone to see, the way he links play. And when surrounded by players like Bruno Fernandes or Donny van de Beek he really shines. He shone today with a great performance.
Daniel James: 7
He’s come under a lot of criticism but today James showed he can play a roll in this Manchester United team. His runs and directness were really useful for us in possession. However his decision making still leaves a lot to be desired.
Marcus Rashford: 8
Marcus Rashford MBE! My man of the Match. He played in his less favoured centre forward position but didn’t look out of place. He’s matured as a player so much where even when he goes spells without the ball he can still impact the game with darting runs. A well deserved goal and couple of assists.
