West Brom 1-1 Manchester United | Premier League | Player Ratings

David de Gea: 7

De Gea redeemed himself for last weeks blunder by coming to the rescue in an almost identical scenario. His double save meant that the dubious foul on Harry Maguire wasn’t left to speculation of the inconsistent VAR.

Defence

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 5

The right-back took up some good positions to cause problems for West Brom, however, he lacked the cuteness in his delivery to ensure any real danger.

Victor Lindelof: 3

Whether he was fouled or not for West Brom’s opening goal is another discussion, however, there is no doubt the Swede should’ve done better to dominate the situation. In the whole game, Lindelof didn’t look assured and seemed to be that that weak vulnerable centre back that he was on his debut.

Harry Maguire: 6

Maguire was one of United’s best performers across the 90 minutes. In the first half, his penetrative dribbling allowed United to get a foothold and get at the West Brom backline. The Captain was unlucky not to get the winning goal.

Luke Shaw: 7

Four assists in the last three games speak for itself. United have found themselves once again in a lull of inconsistency, Luke Shaw has maintained his performances again with a cross in for the equaliser.

Midfield

Fred: 5

Fred continuously finds himself in areas that require composure on the ball to sustain attacks, however he repeatedly plays loose balls or makes the wrong decisions leading to United turning over possession. A poor game from the Brazilian.

Scott Mctominay: 6

The game passed McTominay by in truth. He was the only midfielder that could match West Brom’s physicality and did that well. United’s number 9 also played some accurate long balls wide to switch play but other than that failed to impact proceedings.

Bruno Fernandes: 6

Fernandes struggled with West Brom’s nibbling fouls. The Baggies really crowded the spaces that Fernandes takes up making the Portuguese to resort to long passes from deep which weren’t coming off for the midfielder. His goal was extraordinarily well taken.

Attack

Anthony Martial: 4

Nothing went the Frenchman’s way, second to almost every ball and was rightly substituted after a poor hour of football.

Edinson Cavani: 5

A similar night to Anthony Martial, but instead the Uruguayan was feeding off scraps.

Marcus Rashford: 6

Rashford saw a lot more of the ball when he played. But again lacked ruthlessness in his play to really punish gaps in West Brom’s backline, he was disappointing in truth.

Substitutes

Mason Greenwood: 7

Donny van de Beek: 6
