Saul Niguez Linked To Manchester United Again
Athletico Madrid star, Saul Niguez has been linked with United again. Many reports suggest that United are ready to offer the Spaniard £150,000 a week to join this summer. Saul has been linked with a move to Manchester for quite some time, and the 25-year-old is recognised throughout the world as an excellent midfielder.
The Daily Star reported that Saul wants to link-up with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, who have been excellent together since the January signing of Fernandes. Saul Niguez had previously sent United fans’ tongues wagging with a cryptic clue about a new club on social media but as it turns out he was talking about his new nightclub. He is reportedly valued at £70 million.
Saul Niguez cemented his place in the Athletico Madrid side after a loan at fellow Spanish team, Rayo Vallecano, and since then he has become an ever-present starter in Diego Simeone’s side, making 296 appearance for Los Colchoneros and has won five major trophies. However, the Spaniard has been continuously linked with a move to the Premier League.
Manchester United will have no better opportunity to get their man than now, as Athletico crashed out of the Champions League against RB Leipzig this week, with Saul delivering a brutally honest and blunt post-match interview, in which he assessed that his side ‘were not even close to stopping’ their opponents and that the German side were ‘superior’ to them. Their defeat against Leipzig was another disappointing result in the Champions league, and the Spanish side have only reached the semi-final once in the last 5 years.
United missed out on the star last season, however the mood at Manchester United has changed dramatically since last year, with the Red Devils appearing to be back on track after Solskjaer revived the team towards the end of January and helped them on their way to a 19-match-unbeaten streak, as United secured a place in the Champions League and they are now closing down on the Europa League, awaiting a semi-final with Sevilla.
Manchester United need more strength and depth in their squad if they are going to push Liverpool and City for the league next season and the signing of £70 million pound Saul would strengthen their midfield considerably and provide a quite fabulous midfield trio with Pogba and Fernandes. Whilst Manchester United are still trying to negotiate moves for Sancho and Grealish, another midfielder is a priority this transfer window and Saul would be the perfect fit at Old Trafford.
