Smalling Closing In On A Move To Rome
Chris Smalling is reportedly closing in on a transfer to AS Roma. The deal would see the 29-year-old move to the Italian outfit on a loan deal in which the Red Devil’s pocket €3m.
The English centre back moved to Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson for £7.2m in 2010 . Chris Smalling’s time in the red side of Manchester has seen him win 8 major honours, picking up 2 Premier league winners’ medal also.
Despite never really cementing a permanent starting 11 position due to constant injury problems or lack of form, The ex England international was always a competent performer when called upon. With Manchester United acquiring Harry Maguire for a world record fee in terms of defenders, Smalling has dropped further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
According to Sky sources, Smalling’s move will be a season long loan with no option to buy meaning he remains a Manchester United player for the foreseeable future.
The news comes after Alexis Sanchez was pictured yesterday in Milan in order to complete his loan move to Inter Milan to partner up with ex-teammate Romelu Lukaku.
